Joseph Parker was awarded the win over Great Britain’s Derek Chisora in their boxing heavyweight fight on Saturday, keeping Parker within touching distance of the division’s biggest names as he looks to return to the top of the division.
New Zealander Parker was knocked down inside 10 seconds of the first round by a malicious right hand to his temple from 37 year old Chisora, but the 29 year old quickly recovered and showed his pedigree against his much older opponent to record his 29th victory in 31 bouts. His recovery earned him a split decision victory with the judges scoring the fight 115-113 111-116 115-113 much to Chisora’s consternation.
