Joshua confirms date for title defence
IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has announced his first title defence will take place in London on June 25.
The Olympic gold medallist, who stopped Charles Martin in the second round at the O2 Arena this month, will return to the same venue to face an as-yet-unknown opponent.
Joshua’s announcement is contrary to promoter Eddie Hearn’s earlier claim that the Briton would defend his belt at Wembley Stadium on July 9 – the date Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko meet again in Manchester.

In a video posted on his official Twitter account, Joshua said: “I’ve been speaking to my coach and I wanted the closest fight date possible because I’m feeling good.
“I can’t wait to get back in training and pick up where we left off.
“So the date to put in your diary is June 25 back at the O2 Arena for my first title defence and a jam-packed under card.
“I can’t wait to be back, I’m looking forward to performing for you again. Take care, see you guys soon.”
