Kai Havertz and thirteen other players who have played for Chelsea and Arsenal

Kai Havertz became the 14th player to sign for London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea FC when he completed his transfer to the Emirates on Wednesday.

The silk German forward joined Chelsea FC from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020. His transfer to Arsenal FC means he replaces Italian midfielder Jorginho as the latest Chelsea-Arsenal player transfer.

The conspicuous nature of this transfers is because of the intense rivalry between the two London clubs.

WHO WAS THE FIRST PLAYER TO TURN-OUT FOR CHELSEA AND ARSENAL FC 

Frenchman Emmanuel Petit spent most of his career at Monaco but was a key part of Arsenal’s midfield as they won the league title in 1998. He left in 2000 for Barcelona, only to return to London and see out his career at Chelsea.

He was the first player to turn out for the London rivals.

THE OTHER 

Nicolas Anelka:  Another Frenchman , the forward starred as a youngster for Arsenal. By the time he joined Chelsea FC, he was one of the most prolific forwards in World Football.

Anelka won the Premier League title while playing for both clubs.

Ashley Cole: Englishman Cole swapped Arsenal for Chelsea FC in a very bitter direct transfer for Gunners faithfuls.

In eight seasons at Stamford Bridge, Ashley Cole earned legendary status, helping the club to many successes prominent amongst them the UEFA Champions League

William Gallas: This one remains a odd figure amongst London fans having played for Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspurs.

At each club, Gallas was a key figure.

Cesc Faabregas: A former Arsenal skipper, Gunners faithfuls were left heartbroken when the midfielder decided to join Chelsea FC from Barcelona.

It happened and was a fruitful spell for the Spain International.

Lassana Diarra, Yossi Benayoun, Petr Cech, David Luiz, Olivier Giroud, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Willian, Jorginho have previously towed the path Kai Havertz has taken.

It remains to be seen the reception he will get when he faces Chelsea FC at the Bridge.
