Kano Pillars close in on Nigeria Premier League promotion
Kano Pillars FC have closed in on promotion back to the Nigeria Premier League following a 2-0 win over DMD FC of Borno on matchday two of the NNL Super 8 playoffs.
Evans Ogenyi tutored Kano Pillars FC defeated EFCC on matchday one and needed a win over DMD FC to boost their promotion hopes on matchday two.
That feat they achieved with a 2-0 victory over DMD FC, Mubarak Sani and Abdullahi Haruna with the goals to go with few details of top flight promotion ahead of Matchday three.
The victory takes Pillars to top spot in the Northern Conference section of the ongoing Nigeria National League Super 8 playoffs, with a game vs Katsina United FC on Wednesday to seal their Promotion.
Against Katsina United FC who fell to 1-2 loss to EFCC FC earlier in the day, Pillars FC will need just a point to confirm promotion, but could still get promoted If favoured by result of the EFCC FC vs DMD FC match.
Recall that Kano Pillars FC were relegated from the Nigeria Premier League at the end of a controversy-ridden 2021/2022 season but are poised for instant return following a successful season in the second tier.
If promoted, long-standing Kano Pillars FC skipper Rabiu Ali will return to the Nigerian top-flight, another season for the mecurial midfielder who has spent over two decades in the league, enough to earn legendary status.
Four of the eight clubs participating at the NNL Super 8 playoffs will book Nigeria Premier League Promotion tickets, with Pillars FC poised to make this exclusive roll.
