Kano Pillars pummel Katsina Utd to reach maiden Ahlan Cup final
Kano Pillars on Friday evening became the first team to qualify for final of the maiden edition of Ahlan Cup.
The Sai Masu Gida boys brushed aside Katsina United 4 goals to 1, in the first semifinal match played at the Kano Pillars Stadium, Kano.
Pillars shot into the lead in the 21st minute, after Fahad Usman scored a beautiful freekick which Yinka David in goal for Katsina United couldn’t stop from going into the net.
Katsina United won’t go down without a fight as they pulled back with a penalty goal converted by Muhammed Hussain after 33 minutes of play.
Kano Pillars however pulled ahead with another penalty goal of their own which was calmly slotted into the back of the net by veteran midfielder Rabiu Ali. Junior Lokosa added to Pillars’ goals with a third just before the hour mark.
Junior Lokosa again, dashed any hope of a Katsina United comeback with his brace and Kano Pillars fourth of the evening after beating the offside trap, to calmly send pillars to the final side-footing into the net.
With that result, Kano Pillars maintain their unbeaten run in the Ahlan Cup 2017, while also booking their spot in final. They now await the result of the second semifinal match between Akwa United and El-Kanemi Warriors to know who they face in Sunday’s final.
