Kano Pillars sign Super Eagles duo Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi
Kano Pillars have confirmed the signing of Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa and right-back Shehu Abdullahi for the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season. The club’s head coach, Usman Abdullah, announced the news, saying both players have been training with the team and are ready to play.
Ahmed Musa, 31, has returned to Kano Pillars after being without a club since leaving Turkish side Sivasspor at the end of last season. Musa has played for Kano Pillars twice before, and his return has sparked excitement among fans. It’s believed that Musa is aiming to use his time in the NPFL to regain a spot in the Super Eagles squad ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Shehu Abdullahi, like Musa, has also been without a club after leaving Bulgarian side Levski Sofia in 2023. The 41-cap Super Eagles player is no stranger to Kano Pillars, having played for the club from 2012 to 2014. His reunion with Musa adds to the club’s excitement as they prepare for their upcoming match against Sunshine Stars.
Super Eagles legend Segun Odegbami has commented on Musa’s decision, suggesting the move to Kano Pillars could help him stay in contention for a Super Eagles call-up. However, Odegbami cautioned that similar moves haven’t always worked out for other players.
Kano Pillars are now looking forward to the upcoming NPFL season with their new signings.
