Kanu Nwankwo endorses Ademola Lookman for CAF Player of the Year award
Former Super Eagles of Nigeria skipper and now Enyimba FC Chairman, Kanu Nwankwo has endorsed Ademola Lookman to be crowned CAF Player of the Year for 2024.
Ademola Lookman is the favourite to take the CAF Men’s player of the year prize at the ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco on December 16.
The Atalanta forward faces competition from nine other nominees, including Super Eagles teammate William Troost-Ekong.
However, the 27-year-old winger is heavily tipped to take home the honour after an impressive year for club and country.
Kanu Nwankwo, a two-time winner of the award has now spoken about Lookman’s chances in an interview with Brilla FM.
“He’s a very good player, humble, works very hard… going by the records, I believe he will win.”
Kanu’s endorsement is well-founded. Lookman was the only African player nominated for the 2024 Ballon d’Or, finishing an impressive 14th.
“I don’t know of any African player who has done better than him this year,” Kanu added.
“He was ranked well in the Ballon d’Or. He has done well for both club and country.”
