Kanu reacts to Enyimba FC CAF Champions League elimination
Chairman of Enyimba FC Kanu Nwankwo has reacted to his teams CAF Champions League preliminary round elimination in the hand of Al Ahli Benghazi.
Nigerian Champions Enyimba FC were held to a 0-0 draw by visiting Al Ahli Benghazi in the CAF Champions League preliminary round second leg clash on Sunday August 27.
That result summed a 3-4 aggregate score, following the Libyan sides win in the first leg on Sunday August 20.
” When you lose a game of course it is bad. But if you took at the positives from the game, you’ll say that they did well,” Kanu said of the nine-time Nigerian champions second leg performance.
“If we didn’t play well and we lost, that’s another problem.
” Now Kanu cannot carry the ball and put inside the goalpost, sometimes these things happen to the best teams, the best players and that’s football. We have to move on.
“The boys have to put their heads up and then know that sometimes in life you fall for you to stand. We need to support and encourage them to do better next time. ” the former Super Eagles skipper said.
Enyimba FC will now switch attention to the defence of their NPFL crown, with the league scheduled to get underway in September, 2023.
