Kebbi Beach Soccer team record historic win in World Winners Cup, through to Round of 16
Nigerian champions and Africa’s sole representative at the 2023 Beach Soccer World Winners Cup, Kebbi Beach Soccer team, booked their passage into the last 16 of the competition with a dominant 15-1 win over Slovakian side BS Vion in Italy.
Having lost their first two games against ASD Napoli and Copenhagen BSC, the Nigerian champions needed a huge win to go to the next round. They got their win against the group’s whipping boys, who had lost 16-2 to ASD Napoli earlier in the tournament.
Filipov scored six goals for the two-time Nigerian champions, with Hassan Muhammed scoring three goals and Usman Muhammed scoring three of his own. Ekene Obi scored two goals and Nazarov scored one for Kebbi Beach Soccer team.
The top-ranked African team will now face Spanish side Mazarron after making the Round of 16 as one of the best third-placed teams.
