Kelechi Nwakali: Nigeria can win 2023 AFCON title
Chavez of Portugal midfielder, Kelechi Nwakali, believes that the Super Eagles have the potential to secure victory in the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.
Nwakali, whose name made its way back into to the Nigeria national team provisional squad after almost two years, expressed his confidence in the squad’s capabilities.
In an interview with Punch, Nwakali emphasized the team’s strength and highlighted the leadership of Victor Osimhen, whom he referred to as the best striker in the world presently.
The midfielder is optimistic about the team’s chances in the AFCON tournament, provided they maintain consistency in their performance.
“I feel we’ve got a very good squad to win the AFCON.
” This time around, the Eagles will have Victor (Osimhen), he can lead the team to the AFCON title. He is the best striker in the world at the moment,” Nwakali stated.
Expressing confidence in the team’s abilities, Nwakali believes that the squad can compete with any team in the tournament. However, he acknowledged that consistency throughout the tournament is a key factor in achieving success.
Nwakali, who previously played for Maastricht, was part of the Super Eagles team that participated in the AFCON in Cameroon under the coaching of Austin Eguavoen.
Despite making the Provisional squad, the former Golden Eaglets skipper would have work to do to get into Jose Peseiro’s final squad.
