Kelechi Nwakali’s penalty couldn’t save MVV Maastricht from Elimination
Arsenal loanee, Kelechi Nwakali scored his club’s first penalty during the shoot-out as they lost 4-5 to Volendam in Netherlands – KNVB Beker.
MVV Maastricht were cruising and could have won the game when leading, but 33-year-old Jack Tuijp 26 minutes hat-trick forced the game into extra time.
At the end of 120 minute nothing separated the two clubs as scoreline remained 3-3. Nwakali who came in the second half was the first penalty taker for his club and he made no mistakes from the spot but his strike couldn’t save his club as Loshaj missed the last penalty to allow Volendam take the game 5-4 on penalty shoot-out.
Kelechi Nwakali would be disappointed with the result but should be proud of his impact in the game.
