KERR FEELS LIKE ‘AN IDIOT’ FOR OMITTING CURRY DURING SPEECH AT WARRIORS PARADE
Steve Kerr stood on the stage during the Warriors championship parade rally Thursday and went down the list shouting out his players. But, there was one big omission that wasn’t left unnoticed by fans.
As praise rained down on others players like Finals MVP Kevin Durant, two-time NBA MVP Steph Curry was left out. Kerr didn’t believe it at first when his wife Margot let him know, then the reality set in.
“Oh my God. I’m such an idiot,” Kerr said he told himself in an interview with Marcus Thompson of The Mercury News. “I blew it. I completely spaced.”
Kerr immediately went over to Curry and apologized, who brushed it off.
“Steph, I’m so embarrassed. I forgot to talk about you. You’re not that important to the team anyway,” Kerr joked with his star point guard.
If Kerr could do it all over again, the mistake certainly wouldn’t happen.
“It was a horrible oversight. What he means to the franchise, I should’ve finished up with him. How in the hell could I forget Steph Curry?” Kerr said.
“What I should’ve done is gone back up there and grabbed the mic. What I would’ve said, what I should’ve said, is he makes this whole thing work. Everything revolves around him. The whole culture revolves not only his talent, his unselfishness, but his joy.”
