Kevin Durant becomes 8th NBA player to reach 29,000 career points in Suns’ loss to Lakers
Kevin Durant had 26 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and one block while shooting 9/19 from the field and 4/8 from three-point range in the Phoenix Suns’ 123-116 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
During the game, Durant made history by becoming the eighth player in NBA history to reach 29,000 career points. The Suns celebrated the milestone on social media, posting:
“29K for KD! @KDTrey5 becomes just the 8th player in @NBA history to score 29,000 career points ”
Despite turning 36 last month, Durant remains one of the best players in the league. Over his first two games of the new season, he is averaging 27.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game, with a shooting percentage of 55.9% from the field and 50.0% from three-point range.
Durant, the second pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets, and now the Suns during his 17-year career. His career averages are 27.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game, with a 50.1% field goal percentage.
The Suns are 1-1 after two games this season. They will host the Lakers again on Monday in Arizona after a game against the Dallas Mavericks.
