Kevin Durant reaches 31,000 Career Points

Kevin Durant becomes 8th player in NBA history to reach 31,000 career points

Kevin Durant has officially added another legendary milestone to his Hall of Fame résumé. On December 6, 2025, the Houston Rockets star became the 8th player in NBA history to surpass 31,000 career regular-season points, joining an elite group that includes LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, and Kobe Bryant.

Durant reached the mark in a smooth mid-range jumper during the first quarter of the Rockets’ matchup against the Phoenix Suns.

The Rockets went on to secure a 117–98 win, with Durant contributing 28 points to help his team push deeper into their playoff ambitions. That bucket not only sealed a personal milestone but also elevated his season-long narrative with Houston, where he has continued to show that even in his late 30s, he remains one of the most unstoppable scorers the league has ever seen.

After the game, Durant reflected on the journey to 31K, crediting legends like Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, and Kobe Bryant for setting a standard he’s tried to match his entire career.

“As you’re coming up into the league, you look at these guys as heroes… guys like Wilt, Michael, Kobe, I’m missing so many guys. They set a standard that I try to reach every day.”

With this achievement, Durant solidifies his place among basketball’s immortals. Now sitting at 8th all-time, he’s within striking distance of moving even higher, and given his efficiency and longevity, fans may witness several more milestones in the seasons ahead.
