Kiss the Fact ! Thibaut Courtois Denied Liverpool the Champions League title.

Liverpool dominated the UEFA Champions League Final in Paris on Saturday night. The Reds had over 20 shots on goal with Thibaut Courtois making a record nine saves to deny Jurgen Klopp’s men the title.

Whereas some fans and pundits are critical about Jurgen Klopp’s team selection on the night. This set of thoughts believe Roberto Firmino or Diego Jota would have been a more effective fit for the center forward role Sadio Mane was elected to play on the night.

In their analysis , Colombian winger Luiz Diaz would have been more effective when introduced from the bench with reference to his Match Winning performance vs Villarreal in the Semi final. Maybe !.

Kiss the Fact. Liverpool did not play badly neither were their forwards guilty of missing chances. The only reason why Liverpool did not win the 2022 UEFA Champions League title was the magical performance of Real Madrid Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

The Belgian shot stopper denied Liverpool on 9 occasions. Such a performance as deserving of a Champions League Final between Unarguably two of the best teams in Europe this season.

Thibaut Courtois deservingly got the Man of the match award. I am sure the whole team will dance around him in thanksgiving. For keeping them in the game before Vinicuis Junior’s goal and for preserving the lead with mind blowing saves that further cements his status as one of the best Goalkeepers in the world.

Real Madrid now have their 14th UEFA Champions League title on its way to Madrid. It could have been different . Everyone knows it takes an  “EXTRA” ordinary performance to stop a full strength Liverpool team from scoring.

Credit to Thibaut Courtois and the Real Madrid team for a disciplined defensive performance plus a clinical forward line to score with their only shot on target.

The Belgian Goalkeeper gave an insight to what inspired his match Winning performance in his post match interview. He said :

Today I needed to win a final for my career, for all the hard work – to put respect on my name because I don’t think I have a lot of respect in England.”

Kiss the Fact. He has gotten it .
