Kwara United Condemn Attack on Match Officials After Rivers United Clash

Kwara United have condemned the attack on match officials following their 1–1 draw with Rivers United in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The rescheduled Matchday 22 match was played on Wednesday at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl in Ilorin. Samsudeen Muhammed gave Kwara United the lead in the 31st minute, but Boluwaji Sholumade scored a late equaliser in the 90+3 minute to secure a point for Rivers United.
After the match, some angry fans reportedly forced their way into the technical area and attacked the referee and Rivers United officials.
In a statement, Kwara United condemned the incident and apologised to those affected. The club said it would identify the culprits and take action against them.
“We deeply regret the distress caused to all parties involved and extend our sincere and unreserved apologies to Chief Okey Kpalukwu, the Rivers United delegation, match officials, security personnel, and innocent spectators affected by these deplorable events,” the club said.
Kwara United stressed that the actions of the fans do not reflect the values of the club.
