Kylian Mbappe fails to score as Real Madrid share spoils with Las Palmas
Kylian Mbappe is still waiting to open his goal account for Real Madrid as the French star couldn’t help his team secure a win in their 1-1 draw against Las Palmas in LaLiga.
Despite firing off nine shots, Mbappe failed to find the back of the net, missing a crucial chance that could have brought Real Madrid closer to Barcelona at the top of the standings.
Las Palmas took an early lead when Alberto Moleiro scored just five minutes into the game, putting Real Madrid on the back foot.
The visitors struggled to find an equaliser throughout the first half, with their best opportunity coming from a Fede Valverde free kick, which was expertly saved by former Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen.
Real Madrid finally managed to equalise after the hour mark when Vinicius Junior converted a penalty following a handball by Las Palmas’ Alex Suarez. Despite pushing for a winning goal, Real Madrid narrowly avoided defeat when a late strike from Jaime Mata was disallowed for offside.
The draw leaves Real Madrid in fourth place in the LaLiga standings, four points behind leaders Barcelona after just one win in their first three games.
