Kylian Mbappé hits new milestone following Real Madrid move
The Kylian Mbappé transfer saga has finally concluded, with Real Madrid announcing the signing of the French superstar on Monday, June 3, 2024.
The 25-year-old forward joins the Spanish giants on a five-year deal after leaving Paris Saint-Germain for free, following six successful years at the club.
Mbappé shared his excitement on social media, calling it a “dream come true.” In his announcement post, featuring childhood photos of himself showing his love for Real Madrid, he wrote:
“A dream come true. So happy and proud to join the club of my dream @realmadrid. Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. Can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. ¡Hala Madrid!”
Following the announcement, Mbappé’s Instagram following surged dramatically. Within an hour of the news, he gained 1 million new followers. Over the next four hours, he added another million, increasing his total from 114 million to 116 million and counting.
Mbappé also updated his Instagram bio to reflect his new affiliation with Real Madrid. He received thousands of congratulatory messages from colleagues, fans, friends, and family, including a notable one from Cristiano Ronaldo, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner and Real Madrid legend.
The French forward will wear Real Madrid’s number 9 jersey, previously worn by Karim Benzema, the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner and his former France national teammate.
As Mbappé prepares for Euro 2024 with the French national team under Coach Didier Deschamps, the 2018 World Cup champions are among the favorites to win the tournament.
