Kylian Mbappe shines as PSG overwhelm US Orleans in French Cup
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) secured victory over US Orleans in the French Cup with Kylian Mbappe playing a starring role as the capital side secured a convincing 4-1 win.
The Ligue 1 champions took control of the match early on, with Marco Asensio having an early chance with a curling finish.
Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring for PSG in the 16th minute, finishing after Randal Kolo Muani’s initial attempt was saved.
Mbappe continued to shine, doubling PSG’s lead in the 63rd minute with a deflected shot that led to a penalty. The French star converted the penalty himself, completing a brace.
Nine minutes later, Mbappe provided an inch-perfect cross for Goncalo Ramos, who headed home to extend PSG’s lead.

Although US Orleans briefly pulled one back with a header from captain Nicolas Saint-Ruf, PSG quickly responded two minutes later, Mbappe providing another assist for Senny Mayulu to score PSG’s fourth goal.
With two goals and two assists, Kylian Mbappe was the standout performer of the match, as the US Orleans defenders struggling to contain the French superstar.
Despite the victory, PSG captain Marquinhos faced criticism for a defensive mistake that allowed US Orleans to score. The hosts capitalized on a corner, with Marquinhos failing to intercept the ball, leading to Saint-Ruf’s goal.
Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique and his charges will now turn their attention to Ligue 1, where they are currently eight points clear at the top.
Their next league match is against Brest on January 29 while US Orleans will face Versailles in a French third-division clash in their next game.
