Kylian Mbappe unveiled as Real Madrid player
French superstar Kylian Mbappe has been officially unveiled as a Real Madrid player in front of a full house at Bernabeu Stadium on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. The 25-year-old France captain joined Real Madrid on July 1 after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired. Mbappe spent seven successful years at PSG, initially joining on loan from Monaco.
The presentation ceremony took place on Tuesday afternoon in Madrid, shortly after Mbappe’s return from Euro 2024. Speaking in Spanish, he delighted the assembled crowd, which included his parents Wilfried Mbappe and Fayza Lamari, and was introduced by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
“It’s an incredible day for me,” Mbappe told the crowd, as reported by Marca. “Since being a kid, I dreamed about playing for Madrid and today I’m here. It means a lot to me.”
During the ceremony, Mbappe received a warm hug from compatriot and former Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane. He later posed for photographs, shook hands with fans, and kicked balls into the stands, receiving a wave of affection from the Madrid faithful.
Hordes of Madrid fans attended the presentation, eager to welcome their new star. Earlier, Real Madrid had posted a photograph of Mbappe posing in front of the club’s 15 replica Champions League trophies alongside Perez. Mbappe has been a long-time target for Madrid, who tried to sign him last summer as he entered the final year of his PSG contract.
Despite winning six Ligue 1 titles and four French Cups during his time at PSG, Mbappe and the team never managed to secure the Champions League trophy. Now, he hopes to achieve this elusive goal with Real Madrid.
Mbappe’s arrival marks a significant addition to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, as the Spanish champions continue to bolster their team with one of the world’s most talented players.
