Ladan Bosso: How I rejected 88 million naira bribe from player agent
Head Coach of Nigeria’s under-20 male football team, Ladan Bosso has revealed how he rejected the sum of 88 million naira offered as bribe by a football agent.
According to Bosso, the sum 100,000 Euros (About eighty-eight million in Naira) was brought by some Europe based football agents to influence his selection of players for the upcoming CAF U-20 Nations cup.
Nigeria will be one of the participating countries at the U-20 AFCON which gets underway in Egypt next month and so Coach Bosso and his crew have been in camp to put together a formidable Flying Eagles team for the tournament.
Bosso made the stunning bribe attempt revelation in an exclusive interview with http://INSIDENEWS247.COM
He said ” Since we opened camp, a lot of Football agents have been making overtures to me.
” In fact, just recently, some European football agents approached me and offered me 100,000 Euros that they will be sole right owners of all the players in the Nigerian U-20 team should they get any offer from clubs during the Championship in Egypt. ”
” Of course I turned down the offer, because my team selection is based on merit. ” Bosso revealed.
The camp of the U-20 AFCON bound Flying Eagles, SportsRation can authoritatively confirm has been destination for various local and foreign player agents with their players to test for possible selection by the Ladan Bosso led crew.
Just recently, at least 25 players were sent parking from the teams camp for age discrepancies and not meeting the standard , a process Bosso confirms is a continuous one.
” Our preparation is a continuous process of substitution by elimination, ”
” I want to be held responsible should the team fail, which I am not praying to happen. ” Bosso added.
Nigeria will face hosts Egypt, Mozambique and Senegal in Group A at the 2023 U-20 AFCON.
The 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations will take place in Egypt from February 18 to March 12, 2023.
At the tournament, the semi-finalists will book a spot as African representatives to the FIFA U-20 World Cup to be hosted by Indonesia.
