Ladan Bosso reacts to Super Eagles job links

Former Flying Eagles coach Ladan Bosso has dismissed reports suggesting that he has been appointed as an Assistant Coach for the Super Eagles, describing the rumours as baseless and a “figment of the imagination.”.

Last week, there were claims circulating that Bosso, alongside Rangers International Head Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, had been selected as home-based assistants to work with the head coach of the Super Eagles.

However, Bosso has refuted these claims, questioning the logic behind appointing assistant coaches without first naming a head coach.

In his reaction, Bosso found the rumours amusing and categorically denied any such appointment. “That’s not true because I have not been contacted by the Nigeria Football Federation over being picked as the Assistant Coach,” he stated.

He also pointed out the unusual nature of the situation, asking, “Have you ever heard where assistant coaches were announced without a Head Coach being appointed first?”

Bosso further dismissed the reports as mere propaganda, emphasising that he would have been the first to know if there were any truth to the rumors. “If there’s anything like that, I should be the first to know,” he concluded.

As the Super Eagles prepare to face Benin Republic and Rwanda in the first week of September for the 2025 African Nations Cup qualifiers, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has yet to appoint a new head coach. The team is set to host Benin Republic on September 7th in Nigeria before traveling to Rwanda for their second match three days later.

The Super Eagles have been without a head coach since Finidi George resigned in June, leaving the NFF under pressure to fill the position ahead of the crucial qualifiers.

Ladan Bosso is currently the head coach of Nigeria Premier Football League club, Bayelsa United FC.
