Lagos boy Bukayo Saka shines as Arsenal thrash West Ham

Lagos-boy, Bukayo Saka stole the spotlight as Arsenal defeated West Ham 5-2, keeping their Premier League title hopes alive. The win brings the Gunners within six points of league leaders Liverpool and marks their third consecutive victory in all competitions.

From the first whistle, Arsenal looked determined to attack, and their efforts paid off early. In the 10th minute, Gabriel Magalhaes headed in a perfect corner delivered by Saka, giving the visitors an early lead.

Saka and Martin Ødegaard combined brilliantly throughout the first half, creating chances and putting West Ham under constant pressure. Ødegaard doubled the lead with a penalty after Saka was fouled by Lucas Paquetá.

Kai Havertz made it 3-0 with a composed finish, but West Ham fought back with two quick goals. Aaron Wan-Bissaka scored with a neat side-footed finish, and Emerson Palmieri delivered a stunning free-kick to narrow the gap.

Before halftime, Arsenal restored their dominance. Saka confidently scored from the penalty spot after Gabriel was brought down in the box, making it 4-2 at the break.

The second half saw a more controlled performance from Arsenal. West Ham struggled to create chances, and the Gunners added a fifth goal to seal the comprehensive victory.

The win moves Arsenal up to second place in the Premier League table, keeping them firmly in the title race. West Ham, meanwhile, remain in 14th place, just six points above the relegation zone.

Saka’s standout performance showcased his importance to Arsenal’s success, as the young star continues to lead by example in their pursuit of silverware this season.
