Lampard gives updates on Pulisic, Christensen injuries ahead of trip to West Ham
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has given an update on Christian Pulisic and Andreas Christensen injuries ahead of his sides trip to West Ham.
The English manager is unsure if bot players would be fit for the clash against their London rivals
“Christian (Pulisic) has felt a bit of tightness in his calf just as he came off against Leicester, so we’re managing him, said Lampard.
“I haven’t got an answer for it yet, it feels better than it did after the game so we’ll see by tomorrow.
“Andreas Christensen likewise a little bit is in the squad but we’ll have to see with another 24 hours, because of the tight turnaround.”
Lampard also talked about the similarities and differences in N’Golo Kante and Claude Makelele roles in Chelsea colour.
“I think it is a different position to what I am asking from Kante to how Makelele played it. I think with eras and the players around you, that changes.
“And I think with N’Golo I have a way I want him to work our midfield, where we have some fluidity to us, which allows N’Golo to bring his best attributes to the game.
“Our midfield adds fluidity to us which allows us to bring N’Golo’s best attributes to the game. They are not always to sit in front of the back four. Sometimes he has so much capacity to do high intensity running into lead areas and you want him to do that which sometimes leaves him higher up the pitch which means the rest of the midfield have to react.
“I think he has done well but the midfield have to improve as a unit with everybody together, the more we work on it.
“For N’Golo, since he has been here has shown his attributes and qualities mean that he can play in pretty much any role in midfield that you want him to. He is an incredible player, I keep saying it and I mean it, he is huge for this club.
“He has been huge and he will be for a long time and I am happy with him. It is not just about N’Golo, but I have got other midfield players and a lot of competition in midfield but at the moment, N’Golo is doing a really good job there.”
Chelsea will continut thier push for top four finish with a trip to West Ham on Wednesday, the match will be played at 8:15pm.
