Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has praised Christian Pulisic for his role in the Blues 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge against Newcastle.
A Marcos Alonso lone goal settled the tie to hand Frank Lampard his 5th straight win and hard fought victory.
Callum Hudson Odoi made the assist but it was Christain Pulisic’s run that attracted four Newcastle players thereby creating space for Willian to pass the ball to Odoi who set the ball for Alonso.
Despite coming on in the 68th minute for Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic impact was vital to the point and his manager made that known.
“I’m really pleased for him,” Lampard said. “He’s a hot topic because of the price tag. Because of his status in his national team, and his world status through that. And everyone has got a little bit carried away with the short term.
“The long term is that he’s come here and he’s just turned 21 and to see him play like he did today, and there’s a lot more to come.
“It’s not the end story. You can see his balance and awareness and you can see how he can play.
“And there’s improvement to come as with all the young players, but delighted for him because he will feel good about that. And he should do because he was a big part of us winning that game.”
Pulisic who has made four assist since his big money move to Chelsea will be hoping to return to action on Wednesday when Chelsea host Ajax in a Champions League game.
