Lausanne Diamond League: Amusan falls short in first race after heroics
Nigeria’s track sensation Tobi Amusan fell just short in her return to action at the Lausanne Diamond League meet after her Commonwealth Games Heroics. She finished in second place in the women’s 100mH behind her rival Jasmine Camacho-Quinn.
Amusan took to a stacked field for the women’s 100mH, with Camacho-Quinn, Brittany Anderson and Kendra Harrison among the competitors at the event. The race was poised to be hotly-contested with all of the world’s top runners in the line-up.
Amusan finished the race in second place in a time of 12.45 seconds, falling behind Olympic gold medalist Camacho-Quinn who ran 12.34 seconds, almost equaling her Season Best mark of 12.32 seconds which she ran in Oregon at the World Championships. Camacho-Quinn managed to set a new Meet Record. Tia Jones finished in third place with a time of 12.47 seconds.
Tobi Amusan’s efforts at the Lausanne Diamond League Meet were sufficient to earn her a place in the Zurich Diamond League a fortnight from now. The world record holder will look to re-establish herself as the world’s best hurdler in Switzerland.
