Lakers defeat Indiana Pacers in final to claim title
LeBron James added another feather to his cap as he helped the Los Angeles Lakers claim a 123-109 win over the Indiana Pacers to pick up the first-ever In-Season Tournament title.
The In-Season Tournament was created this year to provide a different kind of competition for the players, and the winners of the tournament would each receive $500,000.
The Los Angeles Lakers breezed through the group stage as well as the knockout rounds, with the 39-year-old James leading them through it all.
They faced the Indiana Pacers in the final in Las Vegas, and they produced a performance worthy of a final. Anthony Davis recorded a season-high tally of 41 points and 20 rebounds for the Lakers in the game.
James finished the game with 24 points and 11 rebounds, while Austin Reaves scored 28 points off the bench for the Lakers.
Tyrese Haliburton scored 20 points and 11 assists, and Bennedict Mathurin scored 20 points for the Pacers.
LeBron James was named as the tournament’s MVP for his contributions, and his side claimed a first piece of silverware this season.
