Leclerc claims Austrian Grand Prix victory for third win of F1 season.

Charles Leclerc found himself on the top step of the podium after an impressive performance in the Austrian Grand Prix earned him his third win of the Formula One season. The Ferrari driver claimed his first win since the Australian Grand Prix to return to second on the Drivers’ Championship rankings.

After failing to make the podium at the British Grand Prix, Leclerc was eager to reinstate himself among the leaders of the competition. Max Verstappen won the sprint race and emerged with the pole position for the race.

Verstappen started the race in front and held onto the lead for the first 11 laps of the race, before Leclerc overtook him for the first time in the 12th lap. The lead changed hands again as Verstappen overtook his rival in the 30th lap before Leclerc retook the lead just two laps later. Unwilling to give up without a fight, Verstappen took the lead in the 50th lap after Leclerc was forced to pit, but the Ferrari driver needed only three laps to once again retake the lead. He held on for the rest of the race to emerge with the win.

Verstappen finished in second place, and Lewis Hamilton claimed his third podium in three races to finish in third place. George Russell finished fourth with Esteban Ocon in fifth place. Mick Schumacher finished sixth and was voted as the Driver of the Day, and Lando Norris was seventh. Kevin Magnussen, Daniel Ricciardo and Fernando Alonso rounded up the top ten.

Leclerc’s victory at the Austrian Grand Prix returned him to second place on the Driver’s Championship standings behind Verstappen. The drivers will return to action for the French Grand Prix from July 22nd.
