Leon Balogun dedicates Super Eagles’ World Cup qualifying campaign to Carl Ikeme
Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun has dedicated Nigeria’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign to his teammate Carl Ikeme.
Ikeme started the qualifiers as Super Eagles number one goalkeeper before he was diagnosed with acute leukaemia.
After Super Eagles last 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier which ended 1-1 against Algeria, Balogun took to Twitter to dedicate the campaign to Ikeme.
Balogun also expressed his pride in captaining Nigeria in their 1-1 draw with Algeria.

With John Mikel Obi and Ogenyi Onazi not playing, the 29-year-old wore the captain band against Algeria in Constantine.
“Proud to have captained my country today and remain unbeaten at @FIFAWorldCup qualifiers,” the 29-year-old added.
Balogun was on for 90 minutes as the Super Eagles played out a 1-1 draw with Algeria in their last 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Mainz defender played five games from six in the Super Eagles’ 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign. He led the defence to two clean sheet while they conceded just one goal from open play under his watch.
