Moments after FC ONE Rocket confirmed Daniel Daga’s transfer to Norwegian club FK Molde, the player’s long-time mentor, Rt. Hon. Nse Essien, expressed his joy and excitement on social media.

Essien, who discovered Daga as a schoolboy and has been his mentor throughout his rise, has played a key role in shaping the young midfielder’s career. From his early days at Carabana Football Academy to his time at FC ONE Rocket, Essien has supported Daga’s development into one of Nigeria’s brightest footballing talents.

Daga, a versatile midfielder from Benue State, made his professional debut for FC ONE Rocket in the 2021/2022 Nigeria National League season. His strong performances on the domestic scene led to his call-up to the Nigeria U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, where he shone in various international tournaments.

The 2022 WAFU B tournament victory, a solid showing at the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations, and a standout role at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup were key moments in Daga’s rise. He also gained valuable experience with loan spells at Dakkada FC and Enyimba FC, helping Enyimba secure a place in the CAF Confederation Cup group stages.

Known for his ability to play as a defensive midfielder, central midfielder, and even in central defence, Daga’s versatility will add depth to FK Molde’s squad. Having already begun training with his new club, he is eagerly awaiting his debut.
