Lewandowski becomes third UCL top scorer of all time as Bayern hammer Lazio

German champions and defending UCL champions, Bayern Munich faced Italian side Lazio in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. The German side picked up an impressive 4-1 away win over the Italian side.

Evergreen striker, Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring in the 9th minute after a defensive error from Lazio before 17 year old English winger, Jamal Musiala made it 2-0 with his first ever Champions League goal in the 24th minute. Leroy Sane made it three in the 42nd minute to give Bayern a comfortable half time lead. As soon as the second half commenced, Francesco Acerbi conceded an own goal in the 47th minute to make it 4-0 and complete the humbling. Argentine winger Joaquin Correa pulled one back two minutes later to make it 4-1.

Bayern Munich have a huge advantage going into the second leg of their tie against Lazio having won comprehensively away from home. Lewandowski has now scored 32 goals this season in 31 matches. He has now scored 72 goals in the UEFA Champions League to be the third highest goalscorer ever in the competition after Cristiano Ronaldo (134 goals) and Lionel Messi (119 goals).
