Lionel Messi’s country react to vandalization of his property in Spain
Argentina’s President, Javier Milei, has condemned the vandalism of Lionel Messi’s vacation home in Ibiza, calling for stronger protective measures for Argentines in Spain. The attack, carried out by radical climate change activists, has drawn international attention.
The €11 million property, owned by the Inter Miami star, was broken into by protesters who defaced the walls with red and black paint and displayed a banner reading, “Help the planet. Eat the rich. Abolish the police.” The activists claimed their actions were “non-violent civil disobedience,” alleging that Messi’s home was built illegally.
Messi, who currently resides in Miami with his family, was not at the property during the incident.
In response to the attack, President Milei criticized the activists’ actions and their ideological motives. On social media, he stated, “In Spain, communists who want to ‘murder the rich and abolish the police to end climate change’ vandalized a home of Lionel Messi and his family.”
Milei expressed solidarity with Messi and his family, urging Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to ensure the safety of Argentine citizens in Spain. “Communism is an ideology fostered by envy, hatred, and resentment towards the successful. It has no place in the free and civilized world,” Milei added.
