Liverpool Miss Out on Money from Nunez Sale as Napoli Drop Interest

Napoli have decided to stop trying to sign Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez.
The Italian club had been in talks with both Nunez and Lorenzo Lucca from Udinese. In the end, they chose to sign Lucca, who already plays in Italy’s Serie A.
Nunez Deal Falls Apart
Napoli were very interested in Nunez and even agreed to personal terms with him. Reports say Nunez agreed to a contract until 2030, earning €5 million a year.
But Napoli and Liverpool could not agree on a transfer fee. Napoli offered €40 million, but Liverpool rejected it. They want to recover more of the €85 million they paid for Nunez.
After trying for a while, Napoli finally informed Liverpool they would not make any more offers. Instead, they completed a deal for Lucca.
What’s Next for Nunez and Liverpool?
With Napoli out, Saudi Arabian clubs are still interested in signing Nunez, though he has turned them down before. If he changes his mind and accepts a move to Saudi Arabia, it could help Liverpool raise money to fund a move for Alexander Isak from Newcastle.
