Liverpool scored twice in the second half to take control of the match. Tottenham later pulled one goal back, but the home side could not find an equaliser before full time.
Tottenham finished the match with nine players after two players were sent off, which made it difficult for them to push forward in the closing stages.
After the match, Liverpool manager Arne Slot said his team showed discipline and stayed calm after taking the lead, especially while defending late on.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou said the red cards changed the game and made it hard for his side to recover after going behind. Liverpool move up to fifth place after the win. Tottenham remain in the bottom half of the table following the defeat.
