Lobi Stars 0-1 Rivers United: Finidi George downplays away win, shifts focus to Enyimba clash

Technical Manager of Rivers United, Finidi George, has described his team’s 1-0 away victory over Lobi Stars as “nothing,” emphasising the need to focus on their upcoming fixtures.

In a tense matchday three encounter of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, Kabir Abdullahi’s 79th-minute strike secured Rivers United’s first away win of the campaign, extending their unbeaten run to three matches. The win came at the Lafia City Stadium, where the Pride of Rivers showcased resilience to claim all three points.

However, Finidi George remained measured in his post-match comments:
“Every victory, we will take it. It’s just a game. This is nothing. We have to go back and prepare for the next game. That’s the philosophy.”

He also acknowledged the challenge ahead, noting that their next match against reigning NPFL champions Enyimba FC will be difficult.
“We are playing against Enyimba, and it’s going to be a difficult game. We just have to enjoy this victory. It’s not easy to come here and pick three points. I must commend the boys for the effort,” Finidi added.

Rivers United will now shift their focus to hosting Enyimba FC at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday, September 29, 2024, where they will aim to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
