Lobi Stars get surprise visit from Benue State Governor Alia
Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia, paid a surprise visit to Lobi Stars Football Club on Thursday, January 23, 2025, during their morning training session at McCarthy Stadium, Makurdi. He urged the team to approach the second phase of the 2024/2025 season with energy, enthusiasm, and determination to take the club and the state to greater heights in sports.
Governor Alia expressed his strong support for the club and assured them that his administration is committed to improving the state’s sports sector. He acknowledged the challenges the club had faced in the past but assured everyone that those issues had been addressed under his leadership. “There were a number of things that happened before we came in, but now I’m confident we’ve got it right,” he said.
The Governor also encouraged the players to put all their effort into the games, as they are the driving force behind the state’s success in sports. He highlighted that the second phase of the league was a fresh start for the team. “This is your first phase. The previous one was a difficult one, but this is a new chapter for Lobi Stars,” he added.
Governor Alia also welcomed the new players joining the team, urging them to quickly adapt to their new environment and contribute to the club’s success. He expressed optimism that with their hard work, Lobi Stars will create a new story of success.
In response, the team’s Technical Adviser, Daniel Amokachi, and captain, Kwambe Solomon, thanked Governor Alia for his support and promised to give their best to make the Governor and the people of Benue proud.
