Lobi Stars win 5-goal derby thriller as Abia Warriors smash Kano Pillars

Rangers up to second with win over Adamawa United

Lobi Stars picked up a 3-2 win in a thrilling North Central derby against Plateau United at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi. The first half of the encounter ended 0-0, but the game sparked into life the moment the second half commenced, and Douglas Achiv opened the scoring for the home side just two minutes in. Austin Ogunye added a second from the penalty spot before completing his brace with another well taken goal to make it 3-0 to Lobi Stars. Plateau United scored twice in the last minutes, first through utility player, Mohammed Zulkifilu in the 82nd minute, and the same player scored a penalty in the 95th minute.

Abia Warriors thrashed Kano Pillars 4-1 at the Okigwe Township Stadium. Godwin Obaje gave the Umuahia Landlords the lead before Obioma Chukwuemeka added a second shortly after. Pillars pulled one back through Nyima Nwagua before the break. The second half resumed with the pummeling of the visitors, as Obioma Chukwuemeka added his second goal, and Daniel Wotlai scored to seal the 4-1 win and take Abia Warriors up to 10th.

Rangers International moved up to second on the NPFL log following a slim 1-0 win over Adamawa United in their Matchday 15 encounter. The Flying Antelopes left it late as Chinonso Ebekwe scored the winner in the 85th minute of the game in Enugu.

Dakkada FC won their third consecutive home game as they pipped Katsina United 1-0. An early Christian Ekong strike was enough to deliver all three points to the home side and take them up to 8th place on the NPFL table.

Wikki Tourists defeated Warri Wolves 1-0 at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi for their NPFL Matchday 15 encounter. Idris Muhammed Guda scored from the penalty spot in the 81st minute to wrap up the points for his side.

League leaders, Kwara United played out a goalless draw at home to Heartland, stretching their winless run against the Naze Millionaires to five games. They remain first on the log owing to their superior goal difference.

Rivers United were held to a goalless draw by FC Ifeanyi Ubah in their NPFL fixture. Rivers United now move up to 6th on the log following the result, while the Anambra Warriors remain in the relegation zone.
