Londynn Jones posts more points than opponents as U.S Women’s beat El Salvador 114-19 in a FIBA Americas tournament

The United States U-16 team started the FIBA  America U17 Championship in Chile on a flying note after hammering El Salvador with close to 100 points in their first game.

The clash between the world basketball power house, US and El Salvador was almost a no match before the game even started.

The Americans at all levels, almost don’t have a match as they had swept all the trophies in all categories in the past years,

El Salvador u-16 were not only defeated by the pedigree of their opponents but also by the stature of the Americans.

It was almost the case of a ‘David and Goliath’, but the David in this case failed to win the battle.

The tie ended 114-19 in favour of the Americans who decimated their opponents.

The U.S. team took advantage of the size difference to score 70 points in the paint, as well as out-rebounded their Salvadoran opponents, 64-23.

Londynn Jones led the U.S. with 21 points, which alone would have been enough to win the game. With the win, the U.S. U16 team improved to 25-1 overall in the FIBA Americas tournaments.

In the five previous editions, they’ve won four gold medals and one bronze.
