Lookman Bows to Dele-Bashiru as Lazio Beat Atalanta in Serie A Clash
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru came out on top in his Super Eagles battle with Ademola Lookman as Lazio defeated Atalanta 1-0 in a tight Serie A game on Sunday evening.
Atalanta were hoping to bounce back after their 1-0 loss to Fiorentina last weekend. But instead, they suffered another narrow defeat, this time at home at the Gewiss Stadium, and have now dropped to third place on the league table.
Both Lookman and Dele-Bashiru started the match for their teams, but the first half was dull, with neither side able to create clear chances.
The second half saw more action. Lazio took full advantage of a mistake in Atalanta’s defence. Dele-Bashiru got on the end of a loose ball and sent a clever header to Gustav Isaksen, who finished calmly to score the only goal of the match.
Atalanta pushed for an equaliser, but Lazio defended well and held on until the final whistle.
The win sees Lazio climb to sixth place, keeping their hopes of European football alive, while Atalanta’s title challenge takes a hit.
In the battle of the Super Eagles stars, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru had the last laugh, as Ademola Lookman and Atalanta were left disappointed on home turf.
