Lookman misses big chance as Atalanta draw Venezia

Ademola Lookman had a big opportunity to help Atalanta in their title chase, but his missed chance contributed to the team being held to a 0-0 draw by Venezia at the Gewiss Stadium. The draw dropped Atalanta’s hopes of going level on points with Inter Milan at the top of the table.

Lookman, who had impressed in Atalanta’s 5-0 win over Empoli the previous week, started the match after his strong performance. Atalanta began well, creating several chances in the first half, but they couldn’t break the deadlock.

In the second half, Atalanta struggled to get past Venezia’s defence, and things grew more frustrating.

Then, with just minutes remaining, Lookman had a golden opportunity to score. A corner kick was headed towards him, and all he needed to do was finish it into the net. Unfortunately, he sent the ball over the bar, and the miss proved costly.

The game ended in a 0-0 draw, leaving Atalanta to reflect on missed chances as they failed to move to the top of the table.

Meanwhile, Napoli and Inter Milan also played a 1-1 draw making Atalanta’s draw of less effect in the race for the Italian Serie A title.
