Lookman Reaches 100th Appearance for Atalanta in Loss to Inter Milan
Ademola Lookman, a key player for Atalanta, made his 100th appearance for the club during their Supercoppa Italiana match against Inter Milan. However, his milestone was overshadowed by a 2-0 defeat, as Denzel Dumfries scored twice to help Inter win and eliminate Atalanta from the tournament.
Lookman joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2022 and quickly became an important part of the team. He came on as a substitute in the 56th minute, but had little impact, as Dumfries sealed the win for Inter in the 61st minute.
Since joining Atalanta, Lookman has been crucial to the club’s success. He scored a hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, helping his team win the title. He also played a key role in Nigeria’s strong run in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where they reached the final.
Lookman’s great performances earned him the CAF African Player of the Year award for 2024 and a 14th-place finish in the Ballon d’Or rankings. His success has attracted interest from top European clubs.
With 100 appearances now behind him, it is uncertain how much longer Lookman will stay with Atalanta before possibly moving to a new club.
