Lookman reacts to man of the match outing vs Napoli
Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman was the star performer as Atalanta secured an emphatic 3-0 victory over Serie A leaders Napoli at the Diego Maradona Stadium.
Lookman scored a brace early in the match, setting the tone for La Dea’s commanding display against the defending champions.
Lookman Praises Team Effort in Big Win
Following the match, Lookman expressed his pride in the team’s performance, highlighting the challenge of defeating the league leaders away from home. “It was a big performance from the team, we’re happy, and three points away to the leaders is never easy, so we’re proud of that,” Lookman told DAZN.
Atalanta’s recent form has been impressive, with the team now enjoying a five-game winning streak, during which they’ve scored 18 goals and conceded only two. Lookman has been instrumental in this run, contributing four goals and three assists to propel Atalanta to second place in the Serie A standings.
Staying Grounded Despite Individual Success
Earlier this week, Lookman attended the prestigious Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris, where he placed 14th, largely due to his memorable Europa League Final hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen. Reflecting on his achievement, Lookman emphasized the importance of his teammates in his success, saying, “Individual achievements are part of football, but this is a team game. My squad helps me a lot. I continue working and try to help the team when I can.”
Eyes on CAF Player of the Year
Lookman has further chances for individual recognition, with the CAF Player of the Year award set for December.
