Arsenal defeated Manchester City on penalties 4-1 to win the 2023/2024 English Community Shield at Wembley Stadium.
Regulation time ended 1-1 , courtesy of late strikes by Cole Palmer for the Citizens and a late equalizer by Trossard for the Gunners.
The game decided on Sunday August 6, 2023 was deadlocked and headed towards a stalemate before youngster Cole Palmer struck the opening goal in the 76th minute.
On as a substitute for last seasons top-scorer Erling Haaland, Palmer received a pass after great work from teammate Phil Foden.
Palmer cut in on his left foot before sending a curling effort past Ramsdale in goal for the Gunners to set up a crazy finale in what was a pretty tight English Community shield game.

In the shootouts, Arsenal edged the Citizens to claim the Shield.
