Luis Castro named Cristiano Ronaldo’s new coach at Al Nassr
Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia have named Luis Castro as their new coach to lead a squad that includes superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
61-year old Portuguese manager Luis Castro will relish the opportunity of working with his countryman Cristiano Ronaldo, the former Manchester United FC strikers convenience thought as key in his choice.
To join Al Nassr, Castro leaves Brazilian Botafogo and will try a new chapter in the money-spinning Saudi Arabian League.
Recall that Al Nassr have been without a permanent manager since current Napoli coach Rudi Garcia was sacked from role late in the 2022/2023 season.
Public Investment Fund-owned Al Nassr , finished the 2022/23 season as runners-up behind Al Ittihad, and with the appointment of Ronaldo’s compatriot, they will be looking to go one further and win the Saudi top division title for the first time since 2019.
The 61-year-old head coach was recently coaching in Brazil with Botafogo, and brings with him a wealth of experience having coached all over the world, including at prominent clubs such as FC Porto and Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk.
