Inter Miami have finalized a one-year contract extension with Luis Suárez, confirming earlier reports that negotiations were at an advanced stage.
Suárez has been a professional footballer for over two decades. He began his senior career in 2005 with Nacional in Uruguay before moving to Europe, where he played for Groningen and Ajax, establishing himself as one of the continent’s most prolific strikers.
His career reached its peak during spells at Liverpool and Barcelona. At Liverpool, Suárez won the Premier League Golden Boot and gained global recognition for his goal-scoring ability. At Barcelona, he was part of the attacking trio and won multiple trophies, like La Liga titles and the UEFA Champions League.
After leaving Barcelona, Suárez played for Atlético Madrid, where he won La Liga in the 2020–21 season, before later spells at Nacional and Grêmio. He joined Inter Miami as part of the club’s effort to add experience and leadership to its squad.
Despite his age, Suárez has remained effective in the Major League Soccer, with goals, assists, and tactical intelligence. His partnership with Lionel Messi continues to be central to Inter Miami’s attacking approach.
The contract extension reflects Inter Miami’s focus on maintaining a competitive squad for success.
