Luka Doncic Shines as Lakers Level Playoff Series
The Los Angeles Lakers surprised many when they made a big midseason move to sign Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks. The decision caused a stir in the NBA, but now it is clear why the Lakers took the risk. Doncic is proving once again that he is one of the best players in the league, especially in the playoffs.
On Tuesday night, Doncic put in a brilliant performance to help the Lakers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 94-85. He scored 31 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and made nine assists as the Lakers tied the first-round playoff series at 1-1.
This latest display also added to an impressive personal record. Doncic has now scored at least 27 points in 14 straight playoff games — the longest current streak in the NBA. This ties him with the legendary Wilt Chamberlain for the third-longest run in history and moves him ahead of teammate LeBron James.
Only Michael Jordan and Elgin Baylor have longer streaks.
Since joining the Lakers, the 26-year-old Slovenian has played a key role in their playoff hopes. Despite scoring 37 points in Game 1, the Lakers still lost. But in Game 2, Doncic led from the start, scoring 22 points, collecting five rebounds, and giving five assists in the first half alone.
LeBron James also stepped up after a quiet Game 1. The 40-year-old added 21 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists to support Doncic’s efforts.
The series now moves to Minnesota for Game 3 on Friday. As the Lakers aim to go far in the playoffs, they will be counting on Doncic to keep up his strong form
