Madison Keys Wins Thrilling Australian Open Semi-Final Against Iga Swiatek

Madison Keys and Iga Swiatek produced an unforgettable performance in the Australian Open semi-final on Thursday, with Keys coming out on top after a dramatic 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 (10-8) victory.

The match, which was fit for a final, saw both players display incredible skill and emotion. Keys, seeded 19th, faced the world No. 2 Swiatek, who had been the favourite to win. Keys started strong, breaking Swiatek’s serve early, but the Polish player quickly found her rhythm and took control, winning the first set 7-5.

Despite losing the opening set, Keys felt she was playing better towards the end of it and came out with renewed energy in the second. She broke Swiatek in the first game, quickly built a 5-0 lead, and dominated the set to win 6-1. Swiatek, known for her resilience, didn’t give up easily, and in the third set, both players fought hard, holding serve under pressure.

The third set remained tight, with Swiatek breaking Keys’ serve first, but Keys fought back and saved a match point. It all came down to a dramatic tie-break, where Keys trailed for most of it. However, she regained the lead with two quick serves and forced an error from Swiatek to win the match 10-8.

The crowd erupted as Keys celebrated reaching her first Australian Open final, and her first Grand Slam final since 2017. “I think at the end we were both battling some nerves, and it came down to who could get this final point,” said a stunned Keys after the match.

Keys will now face Aryna Sabalenka in Saturday’s final, with a chance to win her first Grand Slam title. If she can replicate the grit and determination she showed in this match, she will be a strong contender.
