Madrid Target Samuel Chukwueze Named Africa’s Best Player in La Liga
Samuel Chukwueze’s remarkable season has been rewarded with Africa’s Most Valuable Player award for the 2022/23 season by La Liga.
The Nigerian winger who has been linked with a big-money move to Real Madrid was named Africa’s best player in the Spanish top-division league today following his contribution to his side.
Chukwueze was the main force behind Villarreal securing a ticket to play in the Europa League next season. Samu scored contributed 25 goals in all competitions for the Yellow Submarines.
He scored 13 goals including a brace against Real Madrid who are said to be seriously looking to sign him, he also assisted 12 goals.
This season, Samuel Chukwueze was named amongst the La Liga team of the week in March, he was also in contention for the player of the month in the same month.
Samuel Chukwueze has grown a lot this season as a player, adding goals and good decision-making in the final third to his game.
According to a statement from Villarreal, Samuel Chukwueze beat off competition from other African stars to win the award.
He was voted by more than 30,000 fans and 26 journalists from the continent, ahead of other top African players such as Yassine Bono, Iñaki Williams, and Youssef En-Nesyri, among others.
