Maduka Okoye sets top ten target with Udinese in Serie A

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has said that his main target with Udinese is to finish tenth in the Italian Serie A this season.

The Nigerian shot-stopper has had a solid campaign in Italy, playing 19 matches and keeping three clean sheets. He has managed to save 66.3% of the shots he has faced this term.

Udinese currently sit in 11th place on the Serie A table, with 40 points, the same as Torino just above them. They are 16 points behind Lazio, who hold the final European spot, with only six games left to play.

Okoye, who has become an important player for the Bianconeri, says the team must stay focused as they aim to reach their top ten goal.

“The goal is to maintain tenth place. We need to get our heads right and stay strong. We are upset, but in the four losses we had, we still created chances. There were many good things we did, and we need to build on those,” Okoye told Tuttoudinese.

Remaining fixtures give hope

Udinese still have to play Torino, Bologna, Cagliari, Monza, Juventus, and Fiorentina before the season ends. With this run of games, they believe finishing 10th is within reach.

Okoye’s rise in Italy

Since leaving Watford and joining Udinese, Okoye has returned to form. His time at Sparta Rotterdam showed his potential, and he seems to be regaining that level in Italy.

Injuries have limited his appearances this season, but when fit, the 24-year-old has shown why he’s one of Nigeria’s top goalkeepers. He will hope to maintain this form for club and country heading into the next international break.
