‘ Maguire advises me ‘ – Calvin Bassey
Nigeria and Fulham FC defender, Calvin Bassey has revealed he takes advice from former Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire.
The Englishman has seen his career take a downward slope at Manchester United whom he joined for a british record £80million pounds from Leicester City.
Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey, who spent time in the Leicester City Academy in his youth career days also revealed that he has always looked up to the England International from his days with the Foxes.
Last weekend, Bassey and Fulham FC fell 1-0 vs Manchester United FC at Old Trafford, a game Maguire stared significantly as he enjoys a new lease of life in Manchester.
After the game, Calvin Bassey told a post-match interview of the opposition number 5 jersey;
“At the time I was coming through the ranks and he was one of the players I looked up to and still do. He’s a quality player. Now that I’m playing on the opposite side, he plays on the opposite side, he’s been giving me some advice, like any top player would,” Bassey stated.
Bassey also eulogized Maguire’s impact during his time at Leicester City, ascribing him as a source of motivation from then until date.
He added: “Yeah, of course. He was incredible at Leicester and still is. To do what he did for Leicester was amazing.”
Going forward, Bassey will hope to get more minutes of football when Fulham FC travel to face Aston Villa while Harry Maguire is in Denmark with Copenhagen for a UEFA Champions League matchday four clash.
